Medilink Midlands Ltd is seeking to recruit an additional member of staff to join its team of Advisors. Medilink Midlands provides a range of support activities to life science companies across the East and West Midlands, both as part of delivery of its funded projects and to its membership. The advisory team also work with regional academic and public sector organisations; helping support and coordinate activities when required.
Whilst our team of Advisers have shared responsibility for providing support across the entire region (East and West Midlands), an additional team member is being sought to primarily deliver activity under the West Midlands Health Innovation Network Industry Gateway services provision. As such, this post will be based out of our West Midlands office. However, in line with our agile working policy, the role is anticipated to be primarily home based, with attendance at our offices in Birmingham, as required. Attendance at the offices in Nottingham and Loughborough may also be required from time to time.
The Adviser’s main role will be that of company engagement; working with small to medium sized businesses operating in, or looking to move into, the life science sector. You will analyse client needs around innovation, identify opportunities and enable connections with suitable expertise to help the development and introduction of innovative products, services or processes to the market sector or to the NHS. Whilst the majority of the work will be with companies, there will also be a degree of project management and engagement with partner organisations (NHS, Academic and Public Sector Bodies).
The successful applicant will show commercial awareness, particularly with respect to the SME sector and have industry experience within the healthcare/medical sector and/or digital technologies, preferably with knowledge of developing new products or services.
Individuals must be able to establish valued professional relationships with clients and preferably have a relevant life sciences/biomedical related degree or equivalent.
Experience of NHS procurement / processes is desirable; experience of working on publicly funded projects would be an advantage; experience of working with colleges and universities would be useful; but none are essential. The suitable candidate must be a conscientious, highly motivated, results-orientated team player.
