Job summary
The focus of the Health Innovation West Midlands (HIWM) is to lead and catalyse collaboration and improvement between academia, industry, health and care providers, commissioners, and citizens, with the aim to generate continuous improvement in the region’s health and wealth.
As one of 15 regional Health Innovation Networks established in 2013 by NHS England to spread innovation at pace and scale, the HIWM enable the West Midlands healthcare system to take advantage of innovations that can help to save time, money and lives across our diverse population, which includes many of the most challenged, deprived, and vulnerable communities in the country. Our role is to support partners to work together across areas of identified need, adding value for our patients and population.
A priority for the HIWM is to support mental health resilience and improve health outcomes for people with mental health issues by accelerating access to treatment and diagnosis for our patients and population through supporting the system to implement and evaluate integrated pathways and new models of care, new technologies and methodologies. Current HIWM projects include supporting the diagnosis of ADHD (Focus ADHD) and Early Intervention Eating Disorders pathway improvement but we are currently scoping for local projects in all priority areas for mental health.
Main duties of the job
We are currently looking for a dynamic individual who will support our mental health agenda by using their clinical expertise to guide and manage our regional projects. The successful candidate will be joining a newly created Implementation and Adoption Team at the HIWM and will provide operational management and oversight to their specific projects.
We are looking for an individual with the combined skills of project management coupled with an understanding of the clinical management of mental health in the NHS. However, there is flexibility in the post to become involved in projects addressing the other priorities of the programme. The post is offered on a fixed term basis until the date of renewal of the HIWM licence in March 2023.
The ideal candidate will be a clinical professional working in primary or secondary care wanting to make impact at regional level. However, applications are welcomed from all HCPs and graduates educated to Masters level.
