West Midlands Academic Health Science Network becomes Health Innovation West Midlands
The West Midlands Academic Health Science Network has updated its name to Health Innovation West Midlands, further enhancing its position as a leader in the development and spread of innovation across health services within the region.
The name change follows the Government and NHS England’s decision to relicense England’s 15 Academic Health Science Networks for a further five years under the title Health Innovation Networks.
The new name reflects Health Innovation West Midland’s vision to transform local health and care through collaborative innovation. Working with Integrated Care Systems, innovators, researchers and health and care systems, HIWM will continue to develop solutions and innovations meeting local need, as well as accelerating the adoption and spread of proven solutions.
Tim Jones, Acting Chief Officer at Health Innovation West Midlands, commented: “Following the relicensing of all Health Innovation Networks, we are proud to evolve into Health Innovation West Midlands continuing our valuable work to support healthcare innovation and accelerate the spread and adoption of new care solutions in the West Midlands.
“We have a number of focus areas to help us achieve our goals, including supporting the workforce of the future and strengthening relationships by working with academia, industry and healthcare. We also act as the focus for delivering evidence-based interventions, at pace and scale, to improve health outcomes locally, regionally and globally.”
